The Aylmer Food Centre offers a multitude of programs to serve and help the community. 

1000 Days to Bite into Life

 Good eating habits are best acquired early in life.  1000 Days to Bite into Life provides low-income families with an opportunity to learn the basics of healthy eating during the vital stages of pregnancy and the first two years of the child. The cooking workshops are enjoyable and great tasting!

Snacks for elementary schools in Aylmer

Snacks are distributed to primary schools in Aylmer to provide a snack for children, in particular those from underprivileged backgrounds.

Families in Action

 Fun activities for the families.  This program offers low income families 11 different leisure outings per year. ​Group activities include: Imax Theater, Winterlude, bowling, sugar shack and much more. Average cost is $5 per person.​

It's a child's play! 

Geared at children 0-5, the organized get-togethers are wonderful opportunities for vulnerable families to participate in community activities where they can stay informed while having fun.

Homelessness Prevention

This program provides support to those seeking employment and affordable housing. We offer guidance, assistance and referrals to appropriate resources and support in taking steps towards financial and social independence.

Personal, Family and Community Help Program

This program is designed to develop parental skills for families referred by the Centre Jeunesse de l'Outaouais. 

Work Programs

Individuals who suffer from disabilities and those who have been out of the workforce for a number of years can join our team to build up their confidence level and experience before they either return to school or join the workforce.

Food Distribution

Food aid is offered twice a week and a bag of the month is available for low income families. If you have children, you can if available, get snacks, diapers and baby products once per week. You must show your proof of income and address to get a bag of the month and pay one dollar. Weekly distribution is free.

Allego

ALLEGO is a service that offers community transportation for groups. The only community transportation in all of the City of Gatineau. 

Christmas Sharing Store

This activity takes place in December and is an alternative to the Christmas basket given by the Saint-Vincent-de-Paul. Participants pay 10% of the value of their grocery cart. Places are limited and are attributed on a first come, first served basis. Fees must be paid in full, in cash, at the time of registration.

Value of $50,945 of food and other articles were distributed (average of $463).
